Winsor Pilates Student Interview

This Winsor Pilates review is an interview done with a student that attends these classes at least three times a week. Her experience is typical of most participants of Winsor Pilates classes across the country. Hopefully this Winsor Pilates review will help you better understand the exercise.

Why do you go to Winsor Pilates? It helps build my stomach muscles and tightens the lower abdomen.

Why not just do sit-ups at home? The exercises are for the transverse abdominus, at least that's what they call it in class. These muscles are the ones that wrap all the way around your body.

What do you think of your Pilates class? My teacher is 57 years old and has a flat tummy. I feel my stomach muscles building up. After the last three or four months I've noticed improvement and can do more exercises. They concentrate the exercises on the core.

What does exercising the core mean? In every Pilates class you have to do what they the 100's. They have you engage your core, meaning your lower stomach is engaged. They have you peel yourself Your are pulling yourself up by your upper body completely and only engaging your core muscles.

How are the classes structured? Every class is different. Every teacher is different. Some are more aerobic than others. But it's never about how fast you can go. It's about stability and doing more repitions. Some teacehrs make it harder by using equipement like balls.

A Pilates ball? Yes. This keeps you off balance.

Why off-balance? It makes you use you core muscles even more. Those muscles are working harder to keep you balanced.

So Winsor Pilates is mostly about balance? No. Yoga is about balance. Pilates is more about building your core strength. There are similarities between the two though. Yoga is about stretching muscles and it also works the core muscles. In both classes we do the plank which is basically the down part of the push-up. Not touching the ground though. It gives your back, abdominals and arms a work-out.

What are the differences in Yoga and Pilates? Yoga we work out a bunch of diferent body parts. Legs, obliques, arms. We do alot of stretching. In Pilates we are tryingto build more muscle rather than stretching.

Thanks you for allowing us to talk with you for our Winsor Pilates review. Any time.
